Legionnaires Disease Symptoms:

Legionnaires Disease is a lung inflammation caused by infection of the legionella bacteria. At times, it becomes pretty difficult to get diagnosed, since the symptoms resemble those of pneumonia patients’.

Not only that, people who are infected by this bacteria tend to think easy of the disease, because it looks like a mild flu in the beginning. However, after 2 up to 10 days of initial infection, the sufferers will start to show other symptoms, including:

  • Muscle Aches and Headaches

During the initial infection, patient will first feel tired as if they do not sleep, whilst their muscles are tensed up. Later on, mild headaches will come along with other symptoms after 1 to 2 days later.

  • High fever & Chills

When patients do not seek for medical treatment fast, their bodies will start heating up, even over 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) as the muscles’ pain gets even worse. This also will lead to chills that they often feel cold even if their bodies are burning.

  • Mental Changes

Legionnaires Diseases bearers often encounter several mental changes, that they tend to get confused and agitated, even over small things.

  • Coughs

At first, the patients will start having small coughs as the bacteria penetrate through the patient’s lungs. It will come out as dry coughs that oftentimes the patients ignore it, thinking that they are just having a mild flu.

However, as the infection progresses, it will increase into a persistent cough; in which it will be difficult for them to breath, and they will start feeling the pain inside their chests, as well as the coughs will come out with mucus and sometimes blood.

  • Diarrhea & Gastrointestinal Symptoms

People who have been infected will suffer from diarrhea. They will also feel nauseous that they start to vomit. Not only that, they will have other symptoms, where they will not have their appetite and lose some of their weights if it keeps happening.
